William Henry Williamson

Born on October 29, 1828 in Greenville, Tennessee, Williamson enlisted as captain of H company of the 7th Tennessee in May 1861. Wounded at Gaines Mill, he was promoted to major in April 1863. He was captured at Gettysburg and sat out nearly the entire rest of the War, being released on Feb. 16, 1865.

Post-War, Williamson married Martha Morgan, the widow of the famous General John Hunt Morgan. This made him a kinsman (though after death) to A.P. Hill. Williamson died on March 16, 1887 and was buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Wilson County, Tennessee.
