William James Green

Green was born in Falmouth, Virginia on November 25, 1825. He graduated from VMI with the class of 1846. He became the lieutenant colonel of the 47th Virginia in May 1861, but was dropped in the 1862 reorganization a year later.

While serving as a volunteer aide de camp to General Dorsey Pender during the Seven Days, Green was killed when he was shot through the heart at the battle of Gaines Mill. He is buried in Stafford County, Virginia.
