James Augustus Weston

Weston was born in Lake Comfort, North Carolina on May 6, 1838. He attended Trinity College and was living in Hyde County prior to the War. He enlisted as a lieutenant in B company of the 33rd North Carolina, eventually rising to the rank of major by July 28, 1864. Weston was captured at New Bern in March 1862 and was wounded at Jericho Ford on May 23, 1864. Nonetheless, he served until Appomattox.

After the War, Weston was an Episcopal rector in North Carolina and an author, including of Civil War history. Weston died in Hickory, North Carolina in 1905.
