James Davis Truss

A long-standing feud with his brigade commander eventually ended Truss's career as an officer.

A farmer in St. Clair County, Alabama, Truss became captain of F company of the 10th Alabama on June 4, 1861 at the age of 31. He was promoted to major on July 9, 1863. However, he was cashiered by a court martial on July 14, 1864 as a result of a long feud with General John C.C. Saunders. As a result of the cashiering, Truss was returned to the ranks. After the War, he lived in Nashville, Tennessee.

This officer was a member of Wilcox's Brigade in Anderson's / Mahone's Division.
