Virtual Tour of Sharpsburg
Take a tour of the Sharpsburg battlefield -- scene of A.P. Hill's finest hour and the bloodiest single day in American history -- by viewing a variety of digital fall 2006 photographs taken from around the battlefield. These photographs were all taken during the webmaster's visit to Sharpsburg on October 1, 2006.
The Sharpsburg Battlefield

The approximately 8-mile park driving tour begins from the National Park Visitor Center building located along the Hagerstown Pike.
All photographs on these pages can be enlarged. Click on the picture and it will open at full-size in a seperate window.
From the Visitor Center you can stop and get oriented, pay your park admission fee, and visit the various exhibits about the battle that are featured. The view from the Visitor Center will also let you get generally acquainted with the area and the battlefield. From the Visitor Center, the first stop on the battlefield is the famous Dunker Church.
There are 96 monuments at Antietam, the majority of which are Union. I have tried to include a sampling.
