Samuel Neel Stowe

Stowe was born in 1822 and was a doctor in Gaston, North Carolina before the outbreak of the Civil War. A tall man at 6-3, he became a lieutenant in B company of the 28th North Carolina. He rose to the rank of major dating from April 16, 1863 after being captured at Slash Church on May 27, 1862.

Stowe was wounded at Gettysburg and retired to the Invalid Corps in December 1864. After the War, he moved to Texas. Stowe died in 1894.
