Ways to Help the Site

If you find the And Then A.P. Hill Came Up or one of my other Civil War websites useful and wish to make a donation towards its upkeep, please read on. Donations are absolutely volunter. They are never expected, but are gratefully accepted.

My email address: jgoellnitz [@] gmail.com; here is a direct link to the website fund.

The Cost of Running a Site

Creating and then maintaining a website is a time-consuming process. It also is not free. To keep And Then A.P. Hill Came Up free of advertisements and annoyances like pop up windows, I purchased my own domain name and a website hosting package. I currently own two domains (aphillcsa.com and goellnitz.org). And Then A.P. Hill Came Up is hosted at aphillcsa.com; my personal site, my Gettysburg photo collection, blog, and my smaller Civil War websites are hosted at goellnitz.org. Have you seen any of my other sites? :) Check out: Stonewall's Surgeon, The Battle of the Wheatfield, Strong Vincent, and Ohio at Gettysburg.

It ends up costing me about $200/annually to run these two websites. The major cost is webhosting, but there are assorted other costs such as domain name registration and occasional extra bandwidth. It is not a whole lot of money, but since being diagnosed with cancer I cannot work full-time and "extras" like this start to matter.

How Can I Support this Site?

There's a few different ways. All of them are appreciated.

Give the Site Some Love!

The simplest way to support this site is to tell me what you think about it! Did you find it helpful or useful? Send me an email and let me know! Hearing from people who enjoyed the site provides inspiration for me to keep working on it.

Link Here Have a website of your own? You can support the site by including a link to And Then A.P. Hill Came Up. The address is http://www.aphillcsa.com/. Let me know you're linking here, and I will include a reciprocal link back to your site.

Research and Write for the Site

Have an article you've written on A.P. Hill or one of his men? It does not need to be formal or published before. Or, maybe you have some digital pictures you'd like to share? The site can always use new "stuff." You'll, of course, be credited as the author or creator.

Buy an A.P. Hill Sticker and Support the Site!

Sticker

Black and white General A.P. Hill, CSA stickers are available for purchase from my Cafe Press store. Each sticker costs only $5.00 (which includes a $2.50 donation to the upkeep of this website). The same image of A.P. Hill is also available as a set of 8 post cards for $8.00.

Be Like Hill - Wear Red!

A.P. Hill seems to have a prediliction for red. Whether or not he actually wore a red shirt into battle, he has gone down in Civil War history as the general who wore the flaming red shirt into action. I think its safe to say red was A.P. Hill's signature color.

Coninidentally, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society -- the webmaster's particular cancer, Hodgkin's Disease, is a type of lymphoma -- raises money through the sale of RED wristbands. They can be purchased directly through the the LLS website.

You can raise awareness, honor, and help blood cancer sufferers by wearing RED.

Contribute A.P. Hill Stuff

I collect A.P. Hill "stuff." I have a few paintings and portraits. But, I especially like old magazine articles about A.P. Hill. I always like to get more and add them to my collection.

The ultimate item for me (other than owning something signed by Hill) .... What I'd really like someday is a full-size print of John Paul Strain's "The Parting." I have a smaller size print, but if someday I want to purchase the full-size print and have it framed for my future law office. :)

Donate Money

If you'd like to donate cash, first I'd ask you consider a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the form of purchase of and wearing a red wristband. There are people out there who need help more than me and this helps out ALL of us sufferers of blood cancers.

But if you find my Civil War sites useful and wish to more directly "help the cause," you can donate funds either via amazon.com or paypal. ANY amount is appreciated and goes towards keeping the ship afloat. Donations are kept anonymous, but are MUCH appreciated.

Thank you for your consideration and helping support these sites!
