James Townes Robertson

A native of Abbeville, Robertson was born on August 19, 1832. A private in D company of the 1st South Carolina, he joined Orrs Rifles as a lieutenant in B company in July 1861. Wounded at Fredericksburg, Robertson claimed to have been present at every one of the battles and skirmishes of his regiment. He rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel by July 28, 1864. He was with the Regiment at Appomattox. After the War, he married and was a farmer and a merchant in Abbeville. He later served in the South Carolina legislature. Robertson died in his hometown on August 30, 1905.
