Whiteford Smith Ramsay
Native of Milledgeville, Georgia, Ramsay was born on June 8, 1839. He graduated from Oglethorpe College and married before the outbreak of the War. Ramsay became captain of H company of the 14th Georgia and seven days later in July 1861 was made the unit's lieutenant colonel. However, a month later he resigned his commission because of "ill health" and "extreme youth."
After the War, Ramsay was a baptist preacher and taught in Dublin. He died there on March 16, 1900. Ramsay is buried in Dublin.
