Alexander B. Montgomery

Montgomery was born in Augusta, Georgia. He joined the US Artillery in 1857, serving as a lieutenant in that branch until 1861. He joined the Confederate forces in March 1861. He was elected major of the 3d Georgia in August 1862. Montgomery was wounded at Second Manassas. He was later reelected as lieutenant colonel of the 3d Georgia in May 1863.

Montgomery was later assigned to be Commandant of Prisoners at Charleston, South Carolina in September 1864. After the War, he was a planter in Floyd County, Georgia. He died some time after 1899.
