John Lucas Miller

A lawyer in Yorkville, Miller was born in the York District of South Carolina. He became captain of B company of the 12th South Carolina in August 1861, eventually rising to command it as the colonel by Feb. 1863.

Miller was mortally wounded, shot through the bowels, at the Wilderness on May 5, 1864. He died the next day and was buried at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.
