William Hart McCorkle

Born in Ebenezer in the York District of South Carolina on August 25, 1821, McCorkle married in 1849 and became the captain of A company of the 12th South Carolina in August 1861. He rose to the rank of major by April 1862.

McCorkle was wounded at Second Manassas. He resigned due to rheumatism of the heart on Feb. 4, 1863. After the war, McCorkle was a judge in York County. He served as mayor of Yorkville for 8 terms. He died sometime after 1901.
