Thomas Lafayette Lowe

Born in Catawba County on April 27, 1831, Lowe was a victim of disease during the Civil War. He graduated from Catawba College in 1852 and married two years later. He was a school teacher in Lincolnton prior to the War.

Lowe enlisted as captain of C company of the 28th North Carolina in August. He eventually was promoted lieutenant colonel in September.

Lowe died of pneumonia, near Richmond, on June 11, 1862.
