James W. Lockert
Born in Montgomery County on June 11, 1828, Lockert became captain of K company of the 14th Tennessee in May 1861, eventually rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel shortly before Sharpsburg. Lockert's career effectively came to an end when he was wounded and captured at Gettysburg. He was held as a POW until June 21, 1865.
After the War, the 5-6 Lockert became a farmer and a sawyer in Montgomery and Robertson counties. He was still alive in 1888.
