James William Livingston
A native of the Abbeville District, Livingston was born on August 12, 1832. Like many of the officers in Gregg's Brigade, he graduated from South Carolina College, finishing his degree in 1852. Livingston then practiced law in Abbeville. In July 1861, he became captain of A company of the Rifles. He rose to the rank of colonel by September 1, 1862, but ill-health forced his resignation on November 12, 1862.
After the War, Livingston served in the South Carolina legislature. He was later a farmer and edited a newspaper in Seneca, South Carolina. Livingston died on August 25, 1886.
