Charles Cochrane Lee

Lee was born in South Carolina in January 1834 and lived in Mecklenburg County North Carolina. A graduate of West Point, class of 1856, Lee served as a lieutenant in the army from 1856 to 1859, then was an instructor at the Charlotte Military Academy. He became lieutenant colonel of the 1st North Carolina, then colonel of the 37th in November 1861. Lee was killed leading his regiment at Frazier's Farm.
