John Randolph Lane
Born in Chatham County on July 4, 1835, Lane enlisted as a corporal, but was quickly promoted to captain in September 1861. He was wounded in the head at Gettysburg and again at the Wilderness and by a shell at Ream's Station in August 1864.
After the War, Lane was a businessman in Chatham County. He died in North Carolina on January 7, 1909.
