Franklin Whitner Kilpatrick

Born in Pendelton District South Carolina on September 30, 1837, Kilpatrick attended the University of Virginia. He enlisted as a private in the 1st South Carolina in early 1861. He then became a captain in the 4th South Carolina, then the Palmetto Sharpshooters company B. He rose to the rank of colonel of that regiment. He joined the 1st SC Provisional on January 31, 1863. Kilpatrick was killed at Wauhatchie on October 28, 1863 in Tennessee.
