Cadwallader Jones

Jones was born in Halifax, North Carolina on August 17, 1813. A graduate of the University of North Carolina, class of 1832, he wrote on his family's genealogy and served in the North Carolina legislature. His son was a captain in the 12th South Carolina. Jones became captain of H company of the 12th South Carolina, eventually rising to colonel in September 1862. He resigned in Feb. 1863 due to ill health.

Jones served in the South Carolina state legislature from 1864 to 1865. He died in Columbia on December 1, 1899 and was buried at Elmwood Cemetery.
