Joseph Henry Hyman

Hyman was born on March 24, 1835 and lived in Edbecombe County, North Carolina before the War. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1855. He became captain of G company of the 13th North Carolina in May 1861, eventually rising to the rank of colonel of the regiment by March 1863. Hyman was wounded at Gettysburg in the foot. He served with his regiment until Appomattox.

After the War, Hyman was a real estate broker. He died in March 1902.
