Thomas Hardeman, Jr

Born in Eatonton, Putnam County on January 12, 1825, Hardeman graduated from Emory University as a member of the class of 1845. A lawyer, he served in the state legislature before the War and then in Congress from 1859 to 1861.

Hardeman became captain of C company of the 2nd Georgia Battalion, then colonel of the 45th Georgia in March 1862. Hardeman resigned, however, on October 13, 1862 to serve terms in the state legislature.

After the War, Hardeman did another stint in the US Congress from 1883 to 1885. He died in Macon on March 6, 1891. Hardeman was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery.
