William Scott Guy

Born in Caroline County on November 2, 1835, Guy graduated from VMI as a member of the class of 1856. Prior to the Civil War, he was a teacher in Granville County. He became the 13th North Carolina's lieutenant colonel in May 1861 but was defeated at the June reelection. He then became a private in the 3d Virginia Cavalry, rising to the rank of lieutenant. Guy lost an eye at Sheperdstown on July 16, 1863. He died on November 29, 1907.
