George T. Gordon
A former member of the British Army, G.T. Gordon was a big man with red whiskers who was fond of gambling. A resident of Rockbridge Alum Springs, Virginia, he served as a volunteer aide to Generals Hill, Whiting, Winder, and Bragg. On December 14, 1862 he joined the 34th North Carolina as its major. He eventually rose to lieutenant colonel. Gordon was wounded in the leg at Gettysburg, in the foot in September of 1863, and then again in the foot during June 1864. On November 25, 1864, he retired to the Invalid Corps.
