George Azariah Graves

A native of Morganton, North Carolina, Graves graduated from Wake Forest University in 1859. He became the captain of company G of the 22nd North Carolina in April 1861. He declined appointment as lieutenant colonel at the age of 24 on May 3, 1863. He was wounded in the arm and captured at Gettysburg. He retired to the invalid corps as a captain in November 1864. After the War, Graves was a farmer. He died on July 5, 1907.
