James Henderson Duncan
A native of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, Duncan was born on March 15, 1829. He became a private in G company of the 16th Mississippi in March 1861. He rose through the ranks to lieutenant colonel by the fall of 1864.
Duncan was wounded at the Wilderness and later captured at Fort Gregg on April 2, 1865. He was released on June 16. Duncan, who stood 5-10, was a merchant in Oxford after the War. He died in Mississippi about a decade after the war ended.
This officer was a member of Posey's Brigade in Anderson's / Mahone's Division.
