David Robinson Duncan
Born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia on September 27, 1736, Duncan was a graduate of Randolph -Macon University (class of 1855) and a lawyer in Spartanburg. He became a lieutenant in C company of the 13th South Carolina in August 1861, rising to the rank of major by June 1864. He was captured at Petersburg on April 2, 1865 and held until May 18. After the War, Duncan served terms in the state legislature from 1865 to 1867 and then again in 1870 to 1876. Duncan died in Spartanburg on January 28, 1902. He was buried in Oakwood Cemetery there.
