Champion Thomas Neal Davis

From Rutherford County, Davis became captain of G company of the 16th North Carolina at the age of 34 on May 9, 1861. He rose to colonel on April 26, 1862. He was killed leading his regiment at Seven Pines. Davis was buried in Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington, North Carolina.
