Copyrights and Use of Site Materials

Materials on this site for which the webmaster holds copyright are licensed by the webmaster under a Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0 Creative Commons license / deed.
What does that mean?
In the simplest terms, you may use the contents of this site provided you: 1) give credit to the site (for example, a link back to the website); 2) you do not use the materials for commercial gain; 3) you in turn make the material created available for similar use.
You can read more about Creative Commons. A Creative Commons license does not mean the author gives up all rights to his or her work (i.e. it is not placed into the public domain); rather, some rights are retained and reserved.
Any other type of use requires written permission of the webmaster. If in doubt, send me an email at jgoellnitz [@] gmail.com. I can't really forsee any reasonable request being turned down.
Do note ... however that there are some elements of this site that may be otherwise protected by copyright because they do not "belong" to the webmaster. For example, the buttons in the sidebar to various "Causes" may be copyright protected or pictures used with permission of the owner here may also be copyright protected. The Creative Commons license here only extends to my work. If in doubt, again, ask me.
How do I cite to the site?
If you are using the website for an academic project, you probably need to know how to do a citation of it. Proper online citation format for a website varies depending upon the style used. For example, University of Chicago, APA, and MLA format all may differ. An entire website could be devoted to just this topic, and indeed one has. The Columbia Guide to Online Style may be helpful to you in determining how to properly cite a website according to your assigned citation format.
The site's full title is And Then A.P. Hill Came Up, Ambrose Powell Hill Confederate General. It was first published on the web on May 14, 1997. The address of the homepage is www.aphillcsa.com. The author is Jennifer Goellnitz (I also own the domain name). Each individual page has a last updated blurb at the top.
As far as what value and weight to give the site, I am not a professional historian; the author is by profession an attorney. So proceed with it as you will. I have made an effort to ensure the accuracy of information used on the site. Information on the site is based upon a blend of my own research, research contributed by others, and information available in published sources. I can make no guarantee as to the veracity of information on the site is made, but it is intended to be accurate.
