Thomas Franklin Clyburn
Clyburn was born in the Lancaster District on May 12, 1843 and became a lieutenant in E company of the 12th South Carolina in August 1861. He eventually rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel by May 6, 1864. Soon thereafter on May 23d, he was severely wounded. Clyburn survived his wounds and became a planter in Lancaster and the county auditor. He served terms in the state legislature from 1868 to 1870 and then again from 1882 to 1886. Clyburn died on October 21, 1896 in Douglas. He was buried there in the Presbyterian Churchyard.
