Arnoldus Vanderhorst Brumby

Brumby was born in South Carolina in 1808 and was a graduate of the USMA at West Point. Prior to the War, he served on the faculty at the University of Alabama and was the founder of the Georgia Military Insitute.

Brumby became colonel of the 14th Georgia in July 1861. He resigned, however, in November. Brumby died in Cartersville, Georgia on November 2, 1887.
