Benjamin Thomas Brockman
A victim of the battle of Spotsylvania, Brockman was born in the Greenville District of South Carolina on December 11, 1831. Prior to the War, he was a merchant in Spartanburg. He became captain of B company of the 13th South Carolina, eventually rising to command the regiment as its colonel by June 1863.
Brockman was wounded at Second Manassas, and again in the arm and head at Spotsylvania on May 13, 1864. He lingered, dying in Richmond on June 8, 1864. He was buried in Hollywood Cemetery.
