Jackson Lafayette Bost

Dr. Bost was born on the last day of January 1831 in Bost's Mill, North Carolina. He was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's medical school. Bost enlisted as a lieutenant in D company of the 37th North Carolina in September 1861. He rose to the rank of major by the end of July 1863.

Bost was wounded at both Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. He was captured at Slash Church but served with the regiment until Appomattox.

Bost died in Olive Branch, North Carolina on October 27, 1909.
