William Duncan Ballantine

Ballatine was born in Whitesboro, New York on February 21, 1837. Prior to the outbreak of the War, he was a merchant in Fernandia, Florida. He enlisted as lieutenant of A company 2nd Florida on May 25, 1861. He was wounded at Seven Pines, Sharpsburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg. Captured at the last action, he was held for the duration of the War and not released until June 1865.

After the War, Ballantine served on the Florida governor's staff.
